Holidays and holiday pay
The full annual holiday entitlement is 25 working days per year plus statutory / bank holidays, of which there are 8 per year in the UK. For other countries see the Boundless country guide.
So in the UK your minimum holiday entitlement is 33 days including bank holidays.
Additional holiday is granted for extended service. After two years’ continuous service, 26 holiday days per annum are granted, after this period one additional holiday day is granted for every completed year of continuous service up to 30 days holiday per year excluding bank holidays.
Up to two years' service: 25 days holiday
Two years' service: 26 days holiday
Three years' service: 27 days holiday
Four years' service: 28 days holiday
Five years' service: 29 days holiday
Six years' service: 30 days holiday
For part-time employees the entitlement is pro rata to the days worked.
The holiday year is calculated as January to December.
Eligibility
In your first year working at Studio 24 your holiday entitlement accrues based on the time you have worked in your first year. For example, after you've worked 2 months, you'll be eligible for 4.1 days off (we round this up to 4.5 days).
We don't normally allow holiday to be taken that you haven't accrued, but we are flexible so please talk to your manager.
From your second year you are entitled to your full holiday entitlement from 1st Jan.
Christmas and New Year
We close over the Christmas period. Part of your holiday is fixed by Studio 24 for the period between Christmas and New Year, details of which will be given to you during the early part of each year. You will be required to retain up to 4 days of your holiday entitlement for this period.
Staff are discouraged from taking a large portion of their holiday in December, since this causes a strain on the studio and may be refused. Staff are encouraged to take holiday throughout the year. We have a recommended limit of 3 days off in December, excluding the period Studio 24 is closed between Christmas and the New Year.
Rolling holiday over
If you do not take all your holiday entitlement in any one holiday year, up to five days will be rolled over into the next holiday year. A maximum of five days can be rolled over each year.
Pay for untaken holiday
If after rolling over up to five days holiday you still have untaken leave, Studio 24 will pay you for up to five days untaken leave at your normal daily rate.
Any untaken leave above this will be unpaid.
Requesting holiday
Holiday periods should be agreed with your line manager as far in advance as possible but at least four weeks' advance notice must be given for periods of one week or more. You should not commit yourself to holiday reservations before making sure your holiday request is approved.
You should check with your team to ensure your holiday request doesn't clash with team colleagues and cause studio capacity issues.
Holiday requests must be submitted to our leave system Timetastic and approved by your line manager and a member of the PM team in order to check the holiday request does not cause undue issues with the studio schedules.
Studio 24 reserves the right to refuse a holiday request if by granting the request it will leave a department or area understaffed.
Requesting additional time off
If you need to take additional time off above your holiday allowance this is possible, however this will be unpaid time and we'll reduce your monthly salary pro rata to account for unpaid days.
Please talk to your line manager if this is needed and we'll try to be flexible.
Sickness
Studio 24 reserves the right to reduce your annual holiday entitlement by a proportional amount if you are absent due to sickness or injury during the holiday year. However, your holiday entitlement will not be reduced to less than the statutory holiday entitlement.
If you are sick whilst on holiday either in the UK or abroad, the relevant days may be treated as absence through sickness and the holiday may be taken at a later date. However, Studio 24 reserves the right to request evidence from a medical practitioner to show that the sickness was genuine.
Leaving Studio 24
Should you leave Studio 24 for any reason, your full entitlement to paid holiday will be calculated at the rate of one-twelfth of the annual holiday for each calendar month employed within the holiday year, rounded to the nearest half-day, less any holiday taken during the holiday year.
If the holiday taken exceeds your holiday entitlement, Studio 24 reserves the right to deduct the difference in holiday pay from any money owing to you at the time of your leaving. Should you leave Studio 24 without giving proper notice or you are dismissed for gross misconduct, you will not receive payment for any outstanding holiday entitlement that is in excess of the appropriate proportion of the statutory holiday entitlement.
Other type of leave
We also support staff through other types of leave:
